SPECIALISMS
Queenscliff Therapy - that's me, Courtney - is qualified to work within the BACP ethical guidelines, and will only ever practice within my capability. That being said, I welcome all enquiries from potential clients, regardless of the perceived niche or nuanced issues causing concern.
Asking what "type" of clients I see is similar to asking what is a common thread amongst the next five people who pass you in the street - my clients come to therapy here to discuss depression, health anxiety, self-worth, drug use and abuse, grief, relationship issues - anything that is causing them to move through life in a way that is uncomfortable or causing distress.
There are a few areas of interest that I specialise in. I'm also currently completing a Masters degree on psychotherapeutic intervention on patients who have been discharged from intensive care, so that definitely counts too.
- clients from the performing arts - I have worked with a number of clients in the music, film and theatre industries, working with the specialised areas of concern that a life of performance and recognition can bring such as performance anxiety, rejection and self-image.
- chronic health conditions/auto-immune disease/life-limiting illness - as a member of the disabled community I have first hand lived experience of the trauma and distress caused by significant health challenges, and have worked with clients who expressly wish to speak to someone within this scope of experience
- childhood trauma and abuse - I have worked extensively with helping clients process issues from their chlldhood and upbringing that have followed them to adulthood. I stand with survivors of abuse and create an environment where it is safe to explore and examine these experiences, together, at the client's pace.
- domestic and sexual violence - as a volunteer counsellor at Solace Women's Aid, I work with survivors of VAWG and work in a trauma informed capacity to ensure clients feel in control, supported and safe throughout their experience of therapy.
